GO Conference & Incentive

News

Jana has recently made the move from ‘across the ditch’ to join GO C&I. Jana is just one of those fantastic, collaborative people, where really nothing is ever a problem. Jana has a strong operational events background, and this has been so valuable in how she approaches her work and event problem solving.

Why GO C&I?
GO C&I came highly recommended from one of my previous colleagues who had worked with Sandy in Sydney. When I first talked to her on Skype, she shared GO C&I’s vision and could tell she’d be an amazing boss. I also liked the fact that she and the team were creating something quite new – sometimes it’s great to be in the same boat and start building something new together.

Fourth week how has it been?
So far so good! I was very lucky to start right in the week of our Strategic Planning Trip to Fiji which gave me a fantastic insight into what GO C&I stands for and what we want to achieve moving forward. I have the backing of an incredible team and am very excited to see where we’re heading over the next few years!

Who inspires you?
Children. For their honesty, fearlessness and joy of life.

What excites you most about working in the event industry?
The emotions we’re able to create in people. When after months of work you see it all come together, it’s a truly amazing experience. When you see people’s eyes light up as they enter their Gala Dinner venue or witness them having a ball attacking each other with water pistols from their convertibles in Bali, it’s honestly priceless. I love being the ‘behind the scenes’ producer of it all.

Favourite place in the world, and why?
Oh, that’s a tough one. There’s just so much beauty in this world! I do love Australia and would probably pick a warm seaside town on the East Coast like Byron Bay or Port Douglas. I really like laid back towns that have a little charm to it, good local food and are close to the water.

What’s an average weekend day look like?
Brunch with friends on a Saturday or Sunday morning followed by a trip to the beach, national park or some other cool outdoor spot. In the evenings I might be out and about to find the best G&T, although I equally enjoy relaxed summer nights with a BBQ at home.

Biggest event you have managed?
That would have been a 250pax group I took to Dallas, Texas in 2017. It was a week-long study tour and included some amazing business sessions and activities. The final gala dinner was held on the field of the AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Magic experience!

Last book you read?
‘The Power of Now’ by Eckhart Tolle. I read the German original and can only recommend it! In today’s fast-paced environment I think it’s really important to pause for a moment and learn to focus on the present rather than worrying about what could have been or what might be.

Favourite place to take a group?
Definitely somewhere in Southeast Asia. I think for New Zealand and Australian groups especially, it’s just a fabulous contrast of culture and there’s so much to see and do. It’s also perfect in terms of accessibility and travel duration – and often a good exchange rate and value for money is what makes our clients happy.

Favourite place to holiday?
I honestly couldn’t decide on that one. I generally try to visit a new place every year and often let good airfare deals inspire me.
